Respite

At Lyndoch Living we understand that a caring role can be constant, physically and emotionally draining, and may significantly impact on family, employment and social opportunity.  We offer support to carers by providing respite programs through a variety of options, which indirectly helps them to maintain their own health and wellbeing. We offer the following respite options:

In Home

A Commonwealth Government funded initiative offering flexible in-home assistance for carers of a person living with dementia to receive funded support and service coordination, which extends after-hours.

Respite care funded by the program can be delivered by our own care staff and/or purchased from personal care agencies qualified to meet the unique needs of people with dementia.  Services can be offered on a continuous or casual basis, during the day or overnight.

Contact the Commonwealth Government’s My Aged Care service for a screening and referral. For more information contact us directly at Lyndoch Living.

Overnight or Weekend Stays

This service is provided for carers in need of a short-term break. Located in the beautiful historic ‘Lyndoch Homestead’ overlooking the Hopkins River, those in our care will enjoy nutritious meals, meaningful activities and organised outings.

These overnight or weekend stays support the care recipient’s independence and choice by remaining responsive, efficient, flexible and diverse in program delivery. This program can act as a stepping-stone for a smoother transition into possible residential aged care.

Day Stay

This service, located in the beautiful historic ‘Lyndoch Homestead’ overlooking the Hopkins River, provides day respite for carers, from Monday to Friday 8:00am – 6:00pm, excluding public holidays.

Those in our care will enjoy socialisation through meal times where nutritious meals are provided, meaningful activities, outings and day trips with a small group of peers and staff. Clients are also welcome to join the ‘Men’s Group’, who meet twice a week to share individual interests and skills.

These day stays support the care recipient’s independence and choice by remaining responsive, efficient, flexible and diverse in program delivery. This program can act as a stepping-stone for a smoother transition into possible residential aged care.

Carer Support Group

A network providing support and information for carers in similar circumstances that hosts informal meetings over morning tea, facilitated by a qualified Social Worker who is experienced in dealing with the challenging situations that carers may face on daily basis.

Those attending the meetings will learn practical and useful tips, information regarding current issues, training opportunities and additional support services, and have access to counselling services and referrals to agencies specialising in dementia care. Attendance is free.

For more information contact us directly at Lyndoch Living.

Residential and Convalescent Care

Accommodation and care around the clock offering flexible respite care as required, from three to 63 days. Carers can rest assured, knowing that their loved one is in the 24 hour care of experienced and qualified staff.

While in residence, care recipients will enjoy the company of a lively community, nutritious meals which cater for special diets, and a wide range of meaningful activities to participate in at their leisure. We encourage friends and family to continue to visit, and clients to maintain independence, pursuing their own interests wherever possible.

If transferring from hospital we can arrange any required physiotherapy, or other allied health support.

Contact your general practitioner, health care specialist, health service or case manager for a referral. For more information contact us directly at Lyndoch Living.
